Well, well, what can we say... it's that time of year again- time for another FANTASTIC SUMMER at Machane Gan Yisrael in Lubavitch City! As we pulled into camp we heard the beautifull voices of our counselors welcoming us with "oooh oooh oooh oooh i love G.I.!" After supper we found out our bunks and who our counselors were. That night we had the best sleep of the entire year, just knowing that we were back in Lubavitch City for a full month of fun and learning.

Sunday, Vav Tammuz

The start of a new week in camp! Our day is full of exciting activities, we are never bored for even a second, between swimming, sports, arts n' crafts, biking and preparing for our amazing night activity, where we presented our bunk names. We have bunks Chinuch, Mezuzah, Torah, Tzedaka, Bayis Malay Sfarim, Neshek, Kashrus, Taharas Hamishpacha, Tfilin, Ahavas Yisrael, and Ois B'sefer Torah.

Monday, Zayin Tammuz - Counselor Fashion Show!

After another smashing day at camp we ended off the day with a counselor fashion show! 6 of our beloved counselors dressed up and danced down the aisle with boxes on their heads. We had to guess each one and match them to their pair of shoes on stage. A chossid is never off duty, and we have to remember that wherever we go, people should be able to recognize us as chassidim of the Rebbe After we were all in bed, our dedicated head staff came around to our bunk houses for Rebbe time where each night we have time to think about our day and what we did to make the Rebbe proud.

Tuesday, Ches Tammuz

Shiur this year is something realy special. We dont just learn it, we also each have our own scrapbook where we can decorate and paste in the information so we will all come home with something to remind us of all we learned in camp. Tonight during night activity was the campers chance to perform. Each bunk performed a concert on stage for the rest of camp to enjoy. From there we went straight to our bunk houses where we kept ourselves up just enough to hear Rebbe time and then conk out so we would be ready for a smashing day tomorrow!

Wednesday, Tes Tammuz - Tie Dyeing!!

Tie Dyeing is a blast! of course, we all wore garbage bags so we wouldn't get our clothes as pretty as the small towels we were given. Now we each have our own special one to use after negel vasser each morning :)
Bunks Ahavas Yisrael and Ois B'sefer Torah went on a canoe so they didn't join us for Night activity where we played Glow-in-the-dark-hug-a-counselor. I can't believe the 1st week of camp is almost over!

Thursday, Yud Tammuz

All of our Mommys and Tottys finally got to hear from us first hand all about how much fun we're having! The bunks who went on canoe trip came back and told us what a great time they had. We're happy they're back. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.. and building on that theme.. our counslors ran away from us, so for night activity we had to find them. B"H we found them all safe and sound, and so we slept peacefully. Chassidishe Chalomos!

Friday, Yud Alef Tammuz

Davening and learning starting each day... Did I tell you how muchI love Gan Yisrael?! Each day something new and exciting goes on. Now we're in middle of shabbos preps, getting the dining room all pretty with center pieces and decorations. I can't wait for lunch because.... It's friday in Gan Izzy and guess what's for lunch?! Macaroni and cheese and ketchup all a bunch, fat ones skinny ones slimy ones too! hey MACARONI!!!

Shabbos, Yud Beis Tammuz - Shlichus Achrayus

A gute voch! This shabbos was absolutely phenomenal! Yud Beis Tammuz combined with our theme of Shabbos Shlichus- Achrayus, brought out something special from our campers and counselors alike. Begining from a beautifull Kabolas Shabbos and all the way through the meals, the chayus was unbelievable! Shabbos afternoon, bunks Kashrus, Taharas Hamishpacha, Tefilin, Ahavas Yisrael, and Ois B'sefer Torah had a special farbrengen with Rabbi Tzeitlin, and our very own Pioneers ran an exciting Mesibos Shabbos for all the bunks.
Shalosh Seudas ended with a hartzige seder niggunim, which was followed by a hysterical "Doofus and Dorah" who portrayed the difficulties Yankel from Russia had to go through in order to recieve his green card!
What can I say? Shabbosim in Lubavitch City are just something else!

AND THE SHABBOS WINNERS ARE..........

Hey you never know who its gonna be! hey you never know who its gonna be!!! This week's shabbos winners was definately a tough choice! The special chayus that was felt throughout the whole camp was something out of this world. However, HC'S Miri, Rochel and Aliza had to decide on who would win shabbos. Being that it was such a hard decision, there were 2 winners and 2 runner ups!!!

Sunday, Yud Gimmel Tammuz

Another smashing day at Gan Yisrael. During Shiur, each bunk had a special farbrengen in honor of Yud Gimmel Tammuz. Those who won "best shiur camper" from last week, had a great time at.... BOWLING!!!!
It never rains in Gan Izzy, however, yesterday we had a thunder competition... each one wanted to be louder than the next! But as always, we fell asleep with a smile on our faces after just having participated in Rebbe time, because we need our energy for our next amazing day in camp!

Monday, Yud Daled Tammuz

So far, we have had a smashing day! starting, of course, with an outstanding davening, quick breakfast, and then straight to the kaliseum for.... SWIMMING swimming in the swimming pool. We were joined by our big sisters in Pioneers which made it all the more fun! As soon as we got back to camp, we headed to the dining for lunch, which was followed by rest hour and Tzivos Hashem- You've got to learn it!!!
As of now, we are eating supper after our enthusiastic participation in the rest of today's activities.
We are waiting with eager anticipation for the breakout of tonight's night activity...

BONFIRE! Monday, Yud Daled Tammuz

Yup, that's what night activity turned out to be. After arming ourselves with swaeters and flashlight, we sat down to an evening of hot dogs and singing. Rabbi Ceitlin treated us to a story of mesiras nefesh and mivtzoim - with soldiers in beirut!!! aftre that, all we had the strength to do was stumble back to our bunk houses with our counselors and tumble into bed, energizing ourselves for the day to come - cuz who knows what tomorrow may bring???

COLOR WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, after 2 weeks of campers crying false alarms of "color war!" It's finally here! This morning, during a fake rally between machanehs Emunah, Pardes Chana, and CGI detroit, the "MC's" of the call - who were actually our very own head staff - cried out color war instead of beginning to recite the posuk 'b'chol'! after a moment of confusion, color war chaos was restored!!!!! the teams this year are Avodah and Hafatza.

We wish much hatzlacha to both teams, and keep in mind; the main point is Achdus! color war updates and pictures to follow.

Hiskashrus War Update...

We have just experienced a Hiskashrus war the likes of which have never been seen before! updates will come later... but the achdus was unbelievable! Grand sing ended with a joined banner and complete achdus between the two teams! The judges are now deciding... but- LET THE JUDGES BURN THE SCORE!!!

Shabbos, Yud Tes Tammuz

Our beautifull show of achdus has continued into shabbos as well! The chayus seen, is absolutely amazing! This week we had 4 shabbos winners!

VISITING DAY

Well, the day has come. Camp grounds are slowly filling up with family and friends. However, those of you who couldn't make it - don't worry! We are having a blast. Activities and an amazing carnival are currently going on! and we are visiting all of your/our tayere meidelach! Check out pictures as they are updated and you will find a smiling daughter/granddaughter/sister/friend!

Tuesday, Chof Beis Tammuz

Our morning began with a shmashing line up (check photo gallery for Chof Beis Tammuz) which was followed by an equally chayusdike davening! Our campers are definately "chapping arain" during our last week of camp.... WE WANT TO STAY IN GAN YISRAEL!!!
